There was a huge crowd, seen worse, but that just made everything that much harder. “Dammit” I muttered under my breath. Looking around I realized that everyone was in town square, not a damn soul at home. The square was packed, people everywhere. The dark blue and green tiles of the patio were not to be seen. The only thing recognizable was the huge fountain pillar in the center of the masses.  “Hmmm, how am I supposed to catch this guy in this situation…?” I decided to get to higher ground, and see if I saw anything new. But when I got up top I only saw more people. Damn, this stupid ceremony was killing the operation. I only had two days in this godforsaken city, and then the council’s gunna’ kick me out once they realize who I am. While looking around from above I saw someone, someone that looked just like him, I repelled from the top of the building, thrusting myself to the ground I ran. I ran to where I saw him, but when I got there I realized that it was an older guy, walking with his two grandchildren. “Damn…” I was so close, I thought I had him. I walked around showing people a picture a young boy, around seventeen, long white hair, red eyes. Not someone you could miss. But no one paid any attention to me. They didn’t even seem to notice me, considering that the reason they’re all there was about to start.

There was a loud rumbling noise, the type you would normally mistake for a helicopter, then a huge flash of light came from the sky just before everything went dark. You couldn’t even see the person next to you. “Wow, a full-scale genjutsu affect?” Everyone went silent when a tiny, yet piercing red light came from the center of the square. “Great, he’s here…” then he showed himself and the veil above the city was lightened. The crowd cheered and someone announced over a loud-speaker “THE PHEONIX HAS ARRIVED!” Ugh, this guy came outta nowhere; no one knows who he is, and makes money for doing nothing. He meets people, and gets paid for it. “Oh come on, this guy irritates the hell outta me.” All I could do was stand and watch though. Continuing to look for him would be pointless. I couldn’t stand it any longer. I just left, back to the inn.

It was quite interesting to see a city which is normally so lively in town, be dead, except for the noise a couple blocks down. It’s a tradition of this city, that if you’re a resident, you must go to all the ceremonies that are held in town square, and lucky for me, I’m not a resident. Even though I knew this, I still had a paranoid feeling while I as on my way back. It felt like someone was following me. Everyone should’ve been at the ceremony… Then I heard a bush shiver behind me, I turned, and there he was…”You!” I couldn’t believe it, I’ve been looking for him all day and now he shows up? Why now..? “Yes, it seems you’ve been looking for me for a while now, haven’t you, Lieutenant.” Damn, he’s probably been following me all day… “I know what you’re thinking, you’ve been looking for me all day, and as soon as you give up, here I am.” This doesn’t really surprise me, I heard this guy’s been with us for over ten years…and he doesn’t look much older than seventeen. “Why yes, I did give up, but how do you know who I am?” He looked at me and laughed, “You see, I know everything about you, but you all know nothing about me.” That was true.. The council only referred to him as the Daemon-slayer.

He just stood there, with a very concerned look on his face. I tried to scan him, but for some reason my scanner wasn’t functioning correctly. I tapped the glasses, but no luck. Then he got a grin on his face, “Not workin’ huh? What a shame.” I looked up at him and he tilted his head a little and tapped the side of his hood. He was dressed in a black cloak with gold embroidering on the side, so all you could see was his grin, and a bit of his white hair sticking out the front. Why is all my stuff malfunctioning? Then the grin disappeared, and was replaced with a very stern yet calm appearance. “Leave me alone,” He was trying to talk me out of my mission. “Sorry, but I’ve been given orders to bring you in.” He laughed almost violently, “You think that one person is enough for me, don’t tell me you’re serious?” He looked around at the buildings around him. “Did you bring anyone with you?” What’s up with this guy, is he crazy? Does he think that I’m not enough for him or something?

I still remember the first and only time I’ve seen him. It was around five years ago, we were evacuating a small town. And I knew immediately that there was something wrong with this kid; he was on the Alpha squad at such a young age. I thought that just couldn’t be right. So I did some investigating and it turned out that no one remembers when he joined, it wasn’t recorded…
I looked back up at him and that black cloak, wait a minute “I’ve seen that cloak before, where did you get it?” He had a very confused look on his face. “You of all people should know the answer to that.” He pulled something out of his pocket and tossed it at me, “Here you go, this should remind you.” It was a brooch, the same one I was wearing on my right shoulder. “It was you! You’re the one who killed the captain!” He smiled again, and said with a very calm voice, “Stay away, or your next…”  Luckily for me, as soon as I realized that I was being followed, I called for a few undercover officers to come to my aid if I needed it. And they were right on time, “You’re coming with us,” He looked around and noticed the seven or eight solders walk in closer and almost gave up. I walked in a little closer to him. “I hereby place you under arrest for the murder of Captain Kurosowa, breaking and entering, and the attempted murder and of Headmaster Nusaki.

We got him, and without much struggle, too. He fought, but it was almost like he was holding back. I still wonder if he’s for real… We secured him and left town, driving away with him in a land rover seemed a lot easer than we expected. “Hey Krystal,” She looked up from her manga. “What is it Lieutenant?” She never stops reading that thing. “Don’t you think that was a little too easy?” It looked like she completely ignored me, but then responded without looking up. “What was too easy? Getting out? I made prior arrangements.” I still think it was a little too easy. Then an alarm went off, and someone came running in from the back of the cab. “What’s going on?” Krystal screamed. David looked panicked, “He’s escaped!” WHAT?!?  “That’s not possible, how!” It didn’t make any sense; we made sure he was locked down. But it didn’t matter, I ran through the back and saw that he took a rover bike, so I hopped on the one left and took off. I saw him, and kicked it up a gear. I was gaining on him when I started feeling light-headed. “Ah shit, I forgot my medicine.” I didn’t care I kept going, slowly catching up…
Lieutenant Connor

I woke up in a very familiar place, “We’re back in Narvia already? What happened?” I didn’t remember anything. Why am I in a hospital? “Hey, Krystal?” She looked up from her book this time. “What happened? Last thing I remember was us leaving the city on our way back with the daemon-slayer.” I was so confused, and my head was pounding. “What? You don’t remember?” she seemed really confused, “The daemon-Slayer got away, and you went chasing after him without and passed out. You’re lucky to be alive, any further and you would’ve crashed a lot harder.” I couldn’t believe it. “What happened to him?” I knew we needed to make him our top priority. “He fell into the cavern, there’s no way he’s still alive…”

Three days went on, and the searched turned back negative. No one could find the Daemon-Slayer, even though the entire cavern was searched. He tried to kill the headmaster of the Narvia Army, and was subject to the murder of Captain Kurosowa of the 7th Squad. After the murder he ran away to a city inside of District 3. At the time the district was under ceremony, appointing a new leader for the district. So military was not allowed inside. The lieutenant slipped past the guard, just like the Daemon-Slayer, and is still in the ICU for a concussion and minor injuries.
About a decade ago, the districts were in a huge uproar over a heated debate: Who would take over as headmaster of the districts. After a much discussion, no one merged victorious. That’s when it happened; one of the candidates was shot… By the other one. The military got involved and a huge war raged out. Every district was in turmoil, and not a single person was at peace. That’s when Ayanami stepped in, taking the lead of the headmaster by stopping the war between the districts.
